What Happened Next

Bookcase from Josie's Wonderland
Now that my hutches were ordered, I needed to find things to adorn them with, things that a new-agey, nature loving, creative type person might have. You can find all sorts of amazing things online to print out for your mini scenes. Books, newspapapers, maps, boxes, bags, wallpaper, rugs, clothing, furniture, tea sets ... you name it, it is probably out there. The links on your left will show you to sites that either have great how-tos and DIYs and/or free printies. I have to say, though, that my number one favourite site on miniatures is About.com/Miniatures, with Guide, Lesley Shepherd. She provides tons of info and instruction! Oh, and free Printies! Yay!
Denture set from Josie's Wonderland

While searching for printies, I noticed that Josie had put some items on Clearance! I ordered the bookcase, denture set and kitty paraphenalia in a hurry! Josie provides wonderful customer service and her mini prices are crazy good and it made sense to buy whatever I could from her to get my new hobby going!
(BTW, Josie and her husband brought new baby, Logan, into the world this year, on March 21! Congratulations on your new mini, Josie!)
Kitty and Litter Josie's Wonderland
I had to get these adorable cat accessories for my new mini Siamese! No brainer!

So, these are all the mini treasures that I found in January 2012. Next I'll tell you what I found that took my new hobby to a new level!

Do you collect anything?

It Started With a Hutch

Josie's Wonderland on Etsy
In January of this year, a dollhouse miniature hutch caught my eye on Etsy. It was supposed to be a hutch that a wizard would have and was charming in its detail! Tiny crystal balls, scrolls, a peaked hat and a wand were just a few of the small accessories that this wizard kept. Browsing 'dollhouse miniature hutches" on Etsy brought up the hutch in the picture, (among others) but this one was in my price range and had lots of doors that open! This became one of my very first dollhouse miniature purchases and introduced me to the wonderful Josie!  I also got the hutch below and the beautiful little Siamese, asleep in his bed.

My thought was to decorate these hutches in themes... mixed media art, scrapbooking, stuff like that ... themes that illustrated my own 'big world' interests.

The colours and paint job on this hutch didn't particularly appeal to me, (they are well done, just not my style), but who could resist the unique design? Not me! I figured that I would paint it and fill it with themed accessories, too.

Josie's Wonderland
I have had three exquisitely beautiful and loving Siamese in my life, so far: Zero, Dragon and Aries. How could I say no to this tiny kitty? So I didn't!  Having them represented in miniature means so much to me!

So, that's how it all started!
